I present to you my very first knitting design!
When I got the yarn for my cowl, mom loved the color I chose. She kept asking me to knit a hat for her since last year, so... I thought now was the perfect time! I had the right color, all I needed was a pattern. After talking to her (she had a lot of ideas, mind you), I was able to start creating the design. And here it is!
What you will need -
For the hat:
Worsted weight yarn, 1 skein
3.50 mm needles, DPNS or circular (size of needles can be changed to adjust gauge)
Needle for sewing in ends
For the flower:
Worsted weight yarn
5mm hook
Needle to sew the flower on hat.
Notes:
**To make garter stitch in the round, purl one row, and then knit another row. Simple as that!
**When you are making the crown, you can skip the garter row if you want to, and just knit. But, if you want to continue the pattern, and find yourself having to decrease in a purl row, do not despair: Follow the exact same instructions, only switching the K for the P. So, instead of K6, you P6 - And instead of K2tog, just P2tog.
**You can use circular needles - Just make sure to have dpns of the same size for when you are making the crown!
Abbreviations:
CA - Cast on
K - Knit
P - Purl
sts - Stitches
K2tog - Knit 2 stitches together
Ch - Chain
Sk - Skip
dc - Double Crochet
sc - Single Crochet
Gauge:10cm - 18sts (In stockinette)
Pattern:
Hat-
Cast on 96 sts, and divide them across 3 needles (32 sts on each needle.)
Make 13 rounds of K2, P2 ribb. (If you do not want to fold the ribb, make less rounds)
K for 8 rounds, make one round of garter. K for another 8 rounds, another one round of garter. Repeat until you have 15/16 cm.
Crown
K6, k2tog around
K one round
k5, k2tog around
K one round
K4, k2tog around
K one round
K3, k2tog around
K one round
K2, k2tog around
K one round
K1, k2tog around
K one round
K2tog around
Do not bind off - Thread yarn in the sewing needle and then pass the needle inside all remaining sts. Give it a tigh pull to close the top of the hat, then sew all ends.
Flower -
Ch 48. Sk1, sc, sk1, 5dc in same ch, repeat. When you are done, fold. This will form the flower. Attach to the hat and you are done!

Yarn Butterflies
The pleasure I had this week consisted in sitting in front of my computer and searching for new music. I do this at least once a month - music keeps me going! While I did that, I knitted and drank my coffee. There's something magic into closing my eyes while holding my needles and just listening to that special song I just found - It feels like heaven :)
I also crocheted some tiny flowers and butterflies - and sew them on a baby top I made. I so loved the result... Maybe I will start making tiny gardens to sew on the cardis? The possibilities are endless!
For a few weeks now I have searched for a cowl pattern - nothing fancy, something simple and quick. I was going to use a beautiful blue dk yarn I had bought... Until something clicked.
Back in '13, when I started knitting, grandma Zaira gave me her whole stash. I'm not kidding - she did that. Within all that yarn, I found this wool silk blend. I never used it - it's so beautiful, I had no idea how to use it. But now, there's that cowl pattern... I hope 100grams is enough!
I do love that green. Because I have brown hair, dark green looks good on me. But every time I was about the start the pattern, I had to do something else. Or my mom called, or my sister wanted me to do something... The joys of family, haha. :)
I HAVE to start that, though. I just have to!
Also, this week was so somber... Everyday the sky was overcast, and it rained a lot. How happy I was when I saw that we had sun today? So much happines!!
Here's a flower to celebrate. :D

Finally!
After knitting socks, hats, making pompoms and finishing small crochet projects, I started my sister's blanket. And you know what? I decided to make a HUGE granny. And I'm really liking it so far!
The reason why I chose this design is because I have a lot of scrap yarn in different weights. Making square by square would draw attention to their different sizes - Here, you notice the colors more than anything else.
This are some of the colors I will be using next. After those, who knows? As long as they match, I love this.
And, to finish this post, a flower. The day is wonderful, blue skies, sunny, warm. :)
Yey for sunny days!

A Very Happy Afternoon
Today I had literally, nothing important to do. Just had to make lunch and that was it. It has been so long I felt that good when I had a day just for myself!
What did I do? I crafted. Oh yes.
Knitted more squares for my memory blanket; Choose colors for my new design; Choose motifs and took pictures of everything. I spent the whole day in the garden, with the company of my lovely boxer, Mel. She's my love. While I knitted and choose colors, she slept. Actually, she snored. Perfect indeed! :D
For my new project, I want to use that cotton thread you see in the first picture. It's soft and color fast, lovely to work with.
This book here is my life saver. It belonged to my great grandmother, then my grandmother, and now, me! It's full of stitches (crochet, knitting and afghan crochet), borders and motifs (crochet).

This is a little something from my garden, planted by my little sister. She is so talented, and plants are her passion.
