New Year, New Stuff

What a lovely title! No, really, so many things going on at this point, I have no brain power left!

One thing I'm sure of: I wish you all had a wonderful time with your loved ones, no matter what you celebrate. I hope lovely memories were made!

On to the new stuff, then. I haven't knitted much - aside from a pair of baby booties. More items for the charity box, all right! Also, I had a blast making baby mittens.

I am starting a new baby cardi soon, I hope - Very hot lately to be with yarn around, but it's not like I have a choice. My hands are itching for my needles. We don't really realize how much those can become a part of you until you spent a while without using it! I'll be using this lively green - it's going to be my beach project!

But, the really big news are.... I'm cross stitching. Oh yes! And I'm loving every minute. I made a few little things so far, nothing major. A small heart which I turned into a keychain; A Mario Piranha which will be turned into a keychain for little sis, and this wip. It's a teapot - with hearts! All those were free charts, and really easy ones to follow. Found them all on pinterest :)

As a new cross stitcher, I get to start a whole new stash, buy different supplies, tools, magazines, books... It's all so exciting and interesting. Learning is one of the things I love doing the most, really. The challenge is always there in one way or another - I'm working on getting the back part even, and later on, I want to get better and faster at the stitching.

2016 started great for me, and I hope it was the same to everyone!

Love,

Tina

Lots of things!

When it comes to projects, I'm not the most "controlled" person. I make one, two, sometimes 6 or 7 projects at the same time. This way, I'm always interested - There's always something new and different that needs my attention. I don't care if I finish them now or 2 months from now - As long as I'm having fun, that's what matters!

This month will not be different, I'm afraid... I finished a pair of simple baby booties and will start a baby vest today. Another sock is coming along nicely and I'm making a new pattern - (my very first knitting desing) a hat for mom. I also want to make something that requires sleeves... I've never made a garment that needs sleeves. Since I'm really enjoying working in the round, I want to try that out!

But, I did finish my cowl - I can't wait for this crazy weather to get colder, so I can use it. Working with cables is quite magical - From such a simple process, we see these different designs, new textures, coming alive. If you want to make a cowl just like this one, you can find the pattern here. :)

All this, and then there's school - and gaming. If it was not for Skyrim, I could be done with mom's hat by now, I'm not joking!

I'm also trying really hard to control this urge to make a thousand of different crochet potholder patterns. I have the yarn... The perfect yarn. But we already have so many of those... Argh, it's been hard, so hard... If only life was made of hardships like this one :D

Simple moments

The sun is shining bright outside... But the wind is strong and very, very cold. I wanted to go outside, sit by the sun and knit, but that's just not happening - not today, at least. It's a bit annoying, since I love listening to the birds and I do like the sound of the wind, but today my couch must be my best friend.

My sock is so beautiful - the yarn is very pretty, with all those colors... The pattern is starting to show, and it's very cute. All I want is more sock yarn, just like that!

One of my favorites parts of sock making is turning the heel - it's a shame it goes so fast!

I also realized I have so much crochet thread, I might as well do something with it. I'm just not sure about what yet. But I have so many different colors! It looks like a rainbow of sorts.

This weekend I got more sock yarn! I'm not sure about the pattern yet. Stripes or fair isle? The jury is still out on that one :D

I'm also starting new patterns... Hats and cowls. Maybe a crochet doily too. When the cold starts, I love staying at home with a hot cup of coffee and knitting my days away... <3

So.Many.Projects! *May 2015*

I'm not a normal person. If I was unsure about it before, now I just know it. Maybe it's me driving my anxiety to different things - and if that's what is happening, then this is actually a really good thing. But... This month has been crazy when it comes to my projects. I started socks, hats, blankets, scarves and a lacy table runner. I knitted and crocheted more than ever. I thought making a post about what I've been making would be nice. :)

1- Basic Baby Hat

This one was such a joy to make - I even learned how to make pompoms just for it!Now I need a blue one for my baby cousin. :) * Project page - you can find the pattern here.*

2 -Sockalong Winwick Mum

I have said many things about this wonderful sockalong in older posts. I finished my pair of socks but for my sadness, I had to frog them. Why? I only had 3,50mm dpns, and needed smaller needles. I was not able to find them here in the yarn stores we have where I live. :( But I will get the smaller dpns soon enough! :) *Project page - find the pattern here*

3 - Isabela's Blanket

This has been such a wonderful project. It's almost done, but part of me wish I had started the blanket now. This is how much I love making it! I hope my sister likes it too :) *Project page*

4 - I See Hearts

I have a big trunk in my bedroom, It used to be filled with toys when I was a kid. Now I'm 21 and don't play with dolls anymore, but it's a good wooden trunk and I will paint it white (because it's pink, and decorated with dolls and yellow hearts.) and use it as a nightstand. I wanted to make a doily for it - But not round. So I decided to choose a stitch and make a lacy table runner instead! But I'm not so sure about this. Let's see how it goes. The hearts sure are cute though! *Project page*

5 - Memory Blanket

I can't stop knitting this blanket, it's so relaxing and such a simple project. I take it everywhere with me, and people always say how cool the pattern is. *Project page - find the pattern here*

6 - Another Blanket

And I think I might be starting another blanket. I made one for me, for my sister, and the memory blanket is for charity. Why do I want to make another blanket? Because I have TONS of cotton yarn in this house. Top quality cotton yarn. I haven't really used it yet because I had not found the perfect pattern for it. I got many of those skeins for my birthday last year - god only knows how much money they spent in all of this. I would not be able to AFFORD making a blanket with this yarn! The only thing I would have to buy to complete the blanket would be white skeins, 2 or 3, but that's minimal. And I already have a pattern in mind! :)

7 - Lacy Scarf

Oh well.... no photo for this one because I have frogged it so many times looking for the perfect pattern. The yarn I chose is beautiful though! :D

That was quite a list, right? :)
